Enhance your Comprehensive Search with New Optional Synonym and Antonym & Emphasis Fields
Haloo's optional trademark inputs provide functionality and a a level of flexibility never before seen in a self-serve tool! Using these optional fields can help to optimize and guide the AI in its search and focus the search on specific elements.
These fields are optional. Haloo's powerful AI uses multiple algorithms to produce more comprehensive search results than any other instant search tool on the market, including similar spelling, soundalikes and similar phonetics, letter combinations, translations and more. You will get this deep data without using the optional fields. Using these fields, however, allows for greater flexibility and precision in trademark searches, allowing users to target the most relevant aspects of a mark when appropriate.
See below for some guidelines on how and when to take advantage of these additional fields.
Primary Trademark:
Enter your Primary Trademark under "Trademark", separating the words in a compound mark.
Synonym and Antonym Field (optional):
After entering your Primary Trademark, you have the option to include a single word from your primary mark to add to the synonym and antonym field.
Haloo then searches for trademarks that include synonyms and antonyms of the identified word, along with the other words in your primary mark.
For example:
- Primary Trademark: Bright Star
- Synonym/Antonym: Bright
- Finds results like: Shining Star; Dark Star
Results will appear under the new "Synonyms & Antonyms" Match Type category in your search results.
Emphasis (optional):
This replaces Haloo's previous "Alternative" field, and is optional.
After entering your Primary Trademark, you have the option to use the "Emphasis" field to focus your search on specific distinctive elements or identify part of the mark as sounding like another word.
If the optional "Emphasis" field is used, Haloo will run two separate searches—one for the primary trademark and one for the emphasis. Results are displayed in separate tabs with duplicates removed from the emphasis tab.
You have two options for the "Emphasis" field:
Sounds Like
Use the "Sounds Like" option to find trademarks that sound similar, for example:
- Dictionary spellings of fanciful names (ie entering "Bridge" as the optional input for the mark "BRDJ")
- Translations (ie entering 'Blue Strawberry' as the optional input for the mark "Blue Fraise")
- Accented Characters to add the characters without accents (ie entering 'ete' as the optional input for the mark "ÉTÉ:)
Distinctive Element
Use the "Distinctive Element" option to focus on a key element of your mark, for example:
- Primary Trademark: BRIGHTNESS FUND → Distinctive Element: BRIGHTNESS
Records found from your Emphasis search will be shown in the toggle Emphasis next to Primary in your search results. Duplicate results will be removed from the emphasis tab. You can select records from both the "Primary" and "Emphasis" tabs and combine these records into a single trademark report using the "Build Report" function.
